Schedule
I thought it would be nice to share the upcoming schedule for the next few weeks as we have many different assignments that are coming out that will be important to stay on top of.
Literature Circles
These are an opportunity for students to be part of a book club and read a book with their peers over a period of time and share in depth discussion about the book and the overall topic of the Holocaust. Each week the students will get a 75 minute block to read, a 75 minute block to do the required assignment for the discussion session and then they will get one 75 minute block to have a group discussion about the weekly reading. Depending on the book they have chosen will depend on the length of reading due each week. The following are the important dates to keep in mind.
Jan 4 - Read Day Session 1
Jan 13 - Work Day Session 1
Jan 14 - Discussion Day Session 1
Jan 15 - Read Day Session 2
Jan 20 - Work Day Session 2
Jan 21 - Discussion Day Session 2

Happy New Year!
Welcome Back!
I hope everyone's holidays were fun filled and restful all at the same time. I would like to thank everyone for all the amazing gifts I received this year for Christmas from the class. I appreciate them all very much. We have a very busy next few weeks before the next school break in February. In language arts we are starting our Holocaust unit that will focus on a number of literature circles based from six different novels. We also are starting a new science unit on the earth's crust and resources. All while ploughing ahead in our mathematics curriculum along with the other subjects around the pod. While all this important learning is going on we will also have our basketball teams, drumming groups, and other school groups doing their part to keep your lives as busy as possible. On top of all these events we will also be going skating on February 9th and doing a trip to Mission Ridge for some downhill skiing/snowboarding on February 12th. As always keep an eye on the homework board for our daily work/assignments.
